The Caltech Entrepreneurship Club is organizing a trip up to the San Francisco Bay Area to meet with leading tech VCs, entrepreneurs and startups. The trip will run from Wednesday, January 23, 2013 to Sunday, January 27, 2013. We will be visiting VC firms such as Sequoia and Plug-n-Play, entrepreneurs like Steve Blank, Drew Houston, and Adam D’Angelo, and startups like Square and Airbnb. The focus of this trip will be tech entrepreneurship and we will only be selecting those applicants who are passionate about building technology.

SpaceX Tour and Discussion with Elon Musk (Aug 13, 2012)
The eClub took a tour of the impressive SpaceX facility, where we caught a glimpse of the newest Dragon space capsule and had a discussion with SpaceX’s founder, CEO, and Chief Designer, Elon Musk. During our chat, Elon gave his insight into the future of space travel, and how humans are destined for a multiplanetary existence. Elon is also founder, CEO, and Product Architect at Tesla Motors; Elon is truly a great innovator and inspiring entrepreneur!
View Larger Startup Law 101, Lecture 1: Protecting your company’s IP in joint research arrangements (Aug 23 2012)
This first lecture covered collaborative research, including pros/cons, IP issues, joint inventions, preexisting IP, control of patent prosecution, IP issues with government funding, IP issues with international research, handling disputes, and a case study. It was taught by DLA Piper, one of the largest law firms in the world. Olga Berson (profile), JD/PhD, partner, and Caltech alum taught the first class.

Xing Yang , a Caltech alum from the Tai Lab and expert in BioMEMS devices, gave a talk on biotech entrepreneurship on August 3, 2012. Xing is an experienced entrepreneur who has been at several successful biotech startups, including GeneOhm and Helixis, two Caltech spinouts. He is currently VP at another startup company, BioNano Genomics.
